Alex Skolnick

Alex Skolnick is the lead guitarist of the thrash band Testament and leads the jazz-leaning Alex Skolnick Trio. His main electrics are ESP: the partnership was announced in 2013 with a set-neck Eclipse-style signature model with a mahogany body and neck, a rosewood fingerboard, a TonePros bridge and a Seymour Duncan Alex Skolnick pickup set. Later versions include the neck-through LTD AS-1 FR with a Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo and two Seymour Duncan Alex Skolnick humbuckers, and an earlier LTD listing names a JB bridge and a '59 neck pickup.

On amps, Premier Guitar's 2009 rundown listed a Marshall Mode Four head, an MXR EVH Phase 90, a Boss DD-20 delay and a Moollon boost. He has said Testament later moved to the Kemper Profiler with cabinets by Budda, and he has praised the discontinued Marshall Mode Four hybrid amps. Budda released a signature amp for him in 2013, the Preceptor, and a signature combo based on its 40 Superdrive series is a mainstay of the Trio rig.
