About Andy Timmons
Andy Timmons is an instrumental guitarist from Texas who left Danger Danger to establish himself as a solo instrumental player and whose signature guitars come from Ibanez. The current model is the ATZ10P in Sunburst Matte, with an HSS layout, a roasted maple neck and a Wilkinson WV6-SB tremolo. The bridge pickup, the AT-1, was designed and wound by DiMarzio specifically for him, and the neck and middle pickups are DiMarzio Cruiser humbuckers.
On his album Resolutions he used a BK Butler Tube Driver as one of his main lead sounds. In the studio he has run a 1968 Marshall Plexi Super Lead on one side of the stereo field and a Marshall JMP on the other, through a Framptone switcher to split one guitar between them; for a title track he re-amped a Marshall through a Leslie 122 cabinet. He has also used a Laney VH100 in the studio and sometimes live.
Fan-compiled lists name other pedals, such as an Angry Charlie, a TS808 and a JHS signature AT Channel Drive, but these are less authoritative. Guitar Radar follows his Ibanez signature releases.
