About Chris Spedding

Chris Spedding is a British guitarist whose career has been built mostly on session work. His credits include Paul McCartney, Elton John, Dusty Springfield, Harry Nilsson, Gilbert O'Sullivan and Bryan Ferry. He befriended Chrissie Hynde and produced the Sex Pistols' demo tapes; rumors that he played on the band's records persisted for years, but he has denied it, saying Steve Jones was a perfectly capable player.

His solo single Motorbikin' reached number 14 in the UK charts in 1975, and he appeared on Top of the Pops in leathers in Let It Rock and Sex clothing. He also played with the novelty group The Wombles in full costume, in one profile described as dressed as Wellington and playing a Flying V.

He took up the guitar nearly seventy years ago and is still in demand, according to a Louder interview. The sources I reviewed did not document a specific rig, so Guitar Radar follows him for news rather than gear details.
