About Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton is best known as a singer and songwriter, but her guitars are part of the story: her first was a small Martin, a 5-18 Terz, one of the smallest guitars in Martin's catalog at the time, with a body about 16 inches long. It was destroyed when a fire hit her family home, leaving only the neck, and she has since collected small Martin guitars through the years.

She often performs with a custom Taylor GS Mini known as the Guitar of Many Colors, covered in a rhinestone patchwork quilt design, together with a Martin 5-18 Terz. The Taylor is a custom piece rather than a signature line. One gear guide also lists a Gibson L-00 and an Alvarez nylon-string, but those claims could not be confirmed from a more authoritative source, and I found no Martin or Gibson signature model for her.

She plays with long acrylic nails. Guitar Radar follows the instruments she is seen with.
