About Eric Steckel
Eric Steckel is a blues-rock guitarist whose big break came at age 12, when John Mayall invited him on tour with the Bluesbreakers and hired him to play lead guitar on a 2005 album. His official biography says he has released 12 albums, toured in over 30 countries and developed signature guitars, pickups and amps, and that Total Guitar ranked him number 55 among the 100 greatest blues guitarists in March 2024; those claims come from his own site.
His signature guitar is built by Knaggs: a lightweight single-cut, double-humbucker design that weighs under 7.9 pounds, which the maker approached him to develop. His Seymour Duncan Eric Steckel Signature "Candy" humbucker set recreates the Alnico III pickups in "Candy", the 1960 Les Paul behind the Knaggs model. A signature amp-style pedal, the Mezzabarba M-Zero Overdrive, was a collaboration with Italian amp designer Pierangelo Mezzabarba.
He lists Bogner, Tom Anderson Guitarworks, Diezel, Slickbag and Knaggs as endorsements. Equipboard lists a Bogner Ecstasy 101B and a Diezel VH4, though those entries rest on user-uploaded photos.
