About Judas Priest

Judas Priest is the British heavy metal band from the Birmingham area whose twin-guitar sound defined the genre; Glenn Tipton was born in Blackheath, West Midlands, in 1947. Tipton has played Hamer guitars, mostly the Phantom GT, which he calls his favorite on stage and in the studio and which was his own design to his own specifications, with EMG 81 pickups and a Kahler tremolo, plus a Gibson Les Paul. He has continued playing despite a Parkinson's diagnosis.

Richie Faulkner joined later and plays Gibson, including a Flying V on Firepower and a Gibson Custom Shop Flying V Custom signature model; an earlier Epiphone signature Flying V carried EMG 57 and 66 pickups and a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo. On the Firepower and Invincible Shield albums the amps were ENGL: Invader and Ironball heads with Celestion Vintage 30 cabinets for Tipton, and Powerball II heads with ENGL cabinets for Faulkner.
