About Kings of Leon
Kings of Leon is a Nashville band made up of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill, who plays lead guitar; their cousin Nacho Followill works as guitar tech. Caleb plays rhythm guitar and sings, and his most prized instrument appears to be a 1972 Gibson ES-325, which he has called his favorite guitar ever and which he smashed onstage in July 2009 before it was repaired. He also plays a Gibson Hummingbird acoustic.
Matthew's favorite is an Epiphone Sheraton from around 1983, though the band first bought him a 1971 Les Paul when he joined. He has played a Gibson ES-137 live, an older Fender Thinline Telecaster with a Bigsby on Coming Back Again, and an Epiphone Wilshire and a Fano JM6 at festivals.
On amps, Caleb has used Vox AC15 and AC30 amps and a Matchless before returning to an AC15-style amp, while Matthew has used an Ampeg Reverberocket and a Matchless DC-30, with a DigiTech Whammy, a Dunlop wah and an Electro-Harmonix Bad Stone on his board. Most of these lists are fan-compiled, so treat them as reported rather than confirmed.
