About Plini

Plini is a Sydney-born progressive guitarist who began under the pseudonym Halcyon before releasing music under his own name; Steve Vai praised his album Handmade Cities. His guitar is the Strandberg Boden, and in 2017 he joined the company and developed the Boden Standard Plini Edition with a chambered swamp ash body, a maple top with an Australian blackwood veneer, Suhr SSH+ and SSV pickups, a single volume control and the EGS 5 Pro tremolo. Strandberg later released a neck-through version with a five-ply carbon-fiber-reinforced roasted maple neck.

He does not use tube amps, joking that he has never owned one. He developed the Archetype: Plini plug-in with Neural DSP, with Clean, Crunch and Lead channels plus reverb and delay, which he called basically his dream rig; a later 2.0 update added a tuner. Live he also uses a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx III.

Guitar Radar follows Plini's signature Strandberg editions, Neural DSP products and tours.
