About Saosin

Saosin is a post-hardcore band from Orange County, California, whose early life centered on guitarists Beau Burchell and Justin Shekoski. Burchell began the project after leaving his earlier band Open Hand, writing demos largely on his own, and Shekoski, formerly of As Hope Dies, agreed to join; with bassist Zach Kennedy and singer Anthony Green the original lineup came together in the summer of 2003.

The EP Translating the Name, released on June 17, 2003, was an immediate success and spread largely through online forums and MySpace long before a full album. Green left in early 2004 and Cove Reber sang on the self-titled debut album in 2006 on Capitol and on In Search of Solid Ground in 2009, after which Reber was dropped in 2010. Chris Sorenson replaced Kennedy on bass.

The band reunited in 2013 with all of the original members except Kennedy, and released Along the Shadow in 2016 through Epitaph, with Green back as singer. The name is said to come from the Chinese for "be careful", though that origin is marked as needing a citation in one source.
