About Steven Wilson

Steven Wilson is the British musician behind Porcupine Tree and a long solo career. His main electric guitar is a PRS single-cut played in standard tuning, with a PRS Custom 24 for drop-D songs, and Equipboard lists at least three Singlecut versions over his career. More recently he has used a Fender Custom Shop '63 Telecaster relic almost exclusively on records, saying it needs little gain to sound meaty and powerful. In a rig rundown, his acoustics were a Babicz in standard tuning and an Ovation in Nashville tuning.

His amp was a Bad Cat Lynx 50 head with a matching cabinet, with both channels active at once so that he could blend them through a TC Electronic G-System, which sits at the center of a pedalboard programmed with patches for each song. A Gig Rig MIDI-8 controller handles both the G-System and the amp.

His rig has changed over the years and the sources span different periods, so check the date of any list before copying it. Guitar Radar follows Wilson's gear, reissues and tours.
