About Kuassa

Kuassa is an audio software company based in Bandung, Indonesia, that began as a recording studio. Its three founders, who had known each other since school and band days, wanted a cheaper alternative to expensive outboard gear and started building their own plug-ins; the company's About page says 2010 and other sources say 2009. The name is an inside joke: "Metal Rules" translates to "Kuasa Logam" in Indonesian, from kuasa, meaning power.

The founders are listed as Grahadea Kusuf, Adhitya Wibisana and Arie Ardiansyah, and the legal entity is PT Kuassa Teknika. Its first product, Amplifikation One, came out in 2010, and the catalog is built around the Amplifikation series of amp simulators, with titles such as Creme, Vermilion, Matchlock and the Cerberus bass amp, the Efektor effects series and studio effects. The plug-ins come in VST, VST3, Audio Unit, AAX and Rack Extension formats.

Most of this history comes from the company's own site and retailer pages. Guitar Radar follows new Kuassa plug-ins.
