About MONO
MONO, also called MONO Creators or MONO Cases, is an instrument case and accessories brand that sources trace to a San Francisco start under the industrial designer Daniel Kushner, a former lead designer at IDEO. The founding year is given as 2006 or 2007, and it launched at the Winter NAMM show in 2007.
Its breakthrough was the M80 line, with the Vertigo top-loading design, the Headlock neck suspension and "The Boot" strap-pin protection; the Vertigo is described as the first top-loading guitar case and won a Silver International Design Excellence Award in 2013. The brand has expanded into pedalboards and power supplies, such as the PFX pedalboards machined from a single piece of anodized aluminum.
MONO is part of Vista Musical Instruments, which also includes Heritage Guitars, Harmony, Teisco and Swee Lee. Ernie Ball Music Man moved its instrument cases to MONO from 2023, and its first artist collaboration is a signature case with Polyphia's Tim Henson. Sources differ on its current headquarters. Guitar Radar follows new MONO cases and collaborations.
