About Wylde Audio
Wylde Audio is Zakk Wylde's own guitar and amplifier brand, built in partnership with Schecter and unveiled shortly before Winter NAMM 2015. It marked his move away from the Gibson and Marshall gear he had long been associated with. His manager Rob "Blasko" Nicholson, a former Schecter artist, approached the company with the idea, and Schecter CEO Mike Ciravolo and Wylde hit it off right away. Wylde said that having his own line meant the freedom to create what he wanted.
The guitars share a template: a thick mahogany body, a set neck, a three-per-side headstock and active EMG pickups, and most carry his bullseye graphic from his Gibson days. Named models include the single-cut Odin and V-shaped Viking FR, the SG-like Barbarian, the Odin Grail (Wylde's take on the Les Paul), the Goreghen and the Wrathmaker. The Wylde Audio Master 100 amp was covered in white tolex with a gold control face, reminiscent of a classic Marshall head.
Guitar World warned about a fake Wylde Audio website that claimed the company was founded in 1965 by a "Joe Wylde"; there is no such person. Guitar Radar follows new Wylde Audio guitars and amps.
