Fender has introduced the Tone Master ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition, the first signature amplifier in the Tone Master series and a close collaboration with Joe Bonamassa. The digital 2x12 is based on the 5F8-A high-powered tweed Twin circuit and is voiced around Bonamassa’s own late-1950s examples.

The 85-watt amp pairs two Celestion JB neodymium speakers with a six-position output selector that reaches 0.5 watts, top-panel convolution reverb, an effects loop, a Vintage/Tight low-end switch and a balanced XLR line output with three cabinet impulse responses. At 30 pounds, it is designed to preserve the response of the vintage platform while making it practical for stage, studio and home use.

Fender lists the amp at $1,999.99 in the US, £1,789 in the UK and €2,099 in Europe. The launch matters beyond another signature product: it is a prominent vintage-amp specialist endorsing a digital recreation as a working tool, and it gives Tone Master its first artist model.

Why it matters

Fender is using one of the most vocal vintage-amp collectors as the proof point for its modeling platform, while adding pro-level attenuation and IR workflow to an iconic high-powered circuit.
