British boutique maker Flattley Pedals has returned to the pedal that started its production line ten years ago. The Reaper Dual Mode Distortion Anniversary Edition is not a straight reissue: it rebuilds the concept around an op-amp core with three selectable behaviors.

Hard clipping uses vintage glass-envelope germanium diodes, soft clipping uses an asymmetric LED/silicon arrangement, and a boost setting removes both clipping networks so the circuit can hit an amplifier's preamp much harder. Volume, gain and tone controls keep the interface straightforward, while Flattley's usual hand-finished enclosure treatment includes purple halo lighting and an etched aluminium foot topper.

It is a small release, but a useful example of a boutique maker using an anniversary to rethink rather than merely reproduce its earliest circuit.

Why it matters

The Reaper is a genuinely small-builder story with a clear technical hook: three clipping/boost behaviors and a redesigned circuit tied directly to Flattley's first production pedal.
