Gretsch has released the G6136TGQM-59 Limited Edition Quilt Classic Falcon, a Forge Glow hollowbody that combines a highly figured laminated quilt-maple body with details drawn from 1959. The 2.75-inch body uses period-style trestle bracing beneath a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, with aged-white binding and gold hardware framing the new color.

The guitar carries TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter’Tron pickups, a pinned Space Control bridge and a Bigsby B6GVT vibrato. Its maple neck has a Standard U profile, while the ebony fingerboard uses a 12-inch radius, 22 medium-jumbo frets and Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. Shimamura lists an October 2 launch and a Japanese price of ¥649,000.

Why it matters

This is a substantial limited Falcon rather than a cosmetic-only variant: the 1959 bracing, Ray Butts pickups and Japanese build give collectors and working hollowbody players a specific vintage-modern package.
