Guild has reorganized its Newark St. Collection Starfire range into three clearer families: Starfire Deluxe, Starfire Custom and Starfire Deluxe Bass. Yamaha Music Japan’s September 24 announcement lists 17 SKUs for an early-December Japanese release, spanning single- and double-cutaway guitars, tremolo-equipped variants and two bass finishes.
The split is more than a naming tidy-up. Deluxe guitars use Guild HB-2+ humbuckers, Custom models move to DeArmond Dynasonic single-coils with upgraded trim, and the Deluxe Bass uses BS-1 BiSonic pickups. Guild’s own product hub confirms the refreshed specification map and positions the range as a modern continuation of its 1960s semi-hollow designs.

Why it matters
Starfire is one of Guild’s defining electric families. A 17-SKU reset changes how players compare its core semi-hollow guitars and basses, while preserving genuinely different pickup architectures at each tier.
