About George Harrison

George Harrison was the lead guitarist of the Beatles, and his instruments are some of the most recognizable in pop history. A Gretsch Country Gentleman is the walnut-brown guitar fans remember from the Ed Sullivan appearance, and a Rickenbacker 360/12 gave the band's mid-1960s records their chiming jangle on songs such as Ticket to Ride.

His Epiphone Casino became his main guitar on the 1966 tour and was heavily used on Sgt. Pepper, with a Bigsby tailpiece that differed from John Lennon's. Later he played a 1968 Fender Rosewood Telecaster, used on Let It Be and the rooftop concert, and a red 1957 Gibson Les Paul nicknamed "Lucy", reportedly given to him by Eric Clapton. Several of these have been reissued by Fender, Gibson and others.
