About Gustavo Cerati
Gustavo Cerati was the Argentine singer and guitarist of Soda Stereo, one of the most influential bands in Latin rock. His best-known instrument was a 1965 Gibson ES-335 that he acquired in New York in the mid-1990s and used at the MTV Unplugged performance in 1996, the farewell tour El último concierto in 1997 and the 2007 Soda Stereo reunion. It also accompanied his album Bocanada and his appearance at Live Earth 2007, where he shared the stage with Shakira. In September 2026 Gibson Custom released a limited replica of sixty units, made in collaboration with his heirs.
Earlier he played a Fender Stratocaster, used from 1984 to 1985 and repainted gray in 1985 with a black pickguard, which appeared at the band's first group presentation and debut theater show. Later he became a long-time PRS endorser, often seen with a multi-foil Custom 24 on stages across Latin America.
I found no sources linking him to an Ibanez or a Fender signature model. Guitar Radar follows the Gibson replica and other tributes.
