Gibson Custom has created a Gustavo Cerati ES-335 limited to 60 instruments, available from September 18 exclusively through Gibson Garage Miami. The model is based on Cerati’s 1965 ES-335 TD, bought in New York in the mid-1990s and used through major moments including MTV Unplugged, El Último Concierto and the Me Verás Volver era.

The Murphy Lab-aged guitar uses a ’60s Cherry finish, factory double pickguards, Grover tuners with kidney buttons and a B7 Bigsby vibrato. It ships with a dedicated hard case, the characteristic leather back protector and a certificate of authenticity.

This is Gibson’s first official instrument tribute to Cerati, making the project unusually significant in Latin American guitar culture as well as a highly restricted collector release.

Why it matters

Cerati’s guitar sound shaped generations of Latin American rock players. Gibson formally recreating one of his defining instruments gives that legacy rare recognition from a major global guitar maker.
