About Jimmie Vaughan
Jimmie Vaughan is a Texas blues guitarist, a founding member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and the older brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan, with whom he made the 1990 album Family Style. His main instrument is the Fender Stratocaster, which sources describe as his guitar throughout his career.
Fender has made two signature models. The Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex Stratocaster is built around an original-era Strat look with some hot-rodded changes: an alder body, a maple neck with a soft V profile, a 9.5-inch fingerboard radius, 21 medium jumbo frets and a Tex-Mex Hot Bridge single-coil. In 2020 the Custom Shop made a 30th Anniversary Jimmie Vaughan Signature Stratocaster to mark thirty years since Family Style, in Olympic White, Aztec Gold and Wide Fade 2-Color Sunburst.
His own guitar is heavily modified, with hand-wound JLV single-coil pickups, JLV Modified #2 wiring, a 1950s-style two-piece alder body and a tinted one-piece JLV C-profile maple neck. Guitar Radar follows his Fender signature releases.
