Jimmie Vaughan sat in with Bob Dylan's band on the tour's last U.S. date
The blues guitarist, who'd opened the Nashville show with his own band, joined for three songs before Dylan heads to Europe in October.

Jimmie Vaughan wasn't on Bob Dylan's bill that night — he was the opener. But five songs into Dylan's set at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater on August 1, the closing date of his U.S. summer run, Vaughan came back out for "False Prophet," stuck around for a cover of "I Can Tell," and helped close things out on "Goodbye Jimmy Reed."
It capped a tour where Dylan's guitar chair barely sat still. Bob Britt and Doug Lancio both left in June; Joel Paterson and Julian Lage split most of what remained, and both were on stage for the Nashville finale alongside longtime bassist Tony Garnier and drummer Anton Fig. Whoever ends up holding down guitar duties, Dylan's next stop is Europe, opening October 17 in Norway.
Why it matters
Dylan's lineup has been anything but settled all summer — worth watching whether the European leg finally locks in one guitarist or keeps treating the role like an open mic.
