About Josh Homme
Josh Homme is the guitarist and singer of Queens of the Stone Age, and earlier of Kyuss, with a gear approach that is more thrift shop than showroom. His core amp is an Ampeg VT-40, ostensibly a bass amp, which he has played since he was a teenager and which helped define his unusual Kyuss tone together with his use of the neck pickup.
His guitars are eclectic and often modest: he has praised a $300 Epiphone as one of his "most faithful and greatest soldiers", plays a Maton signature twelve-string, and has used a Teisco, Gibson models and a MotorAve BelAire. Live, his sound often comes from the amp alone with minimal pedals, with a DigiTech Whammy used mostly in the studio. He is famously private about his gear, so published rig lists are fan-compiled snapshots.
