Lzzy Hale

Lzzy Hale is the singer and guitarist of Halestorm and one of the best-known players of the Gibson Explorer. Her first Explorer was bought second-hand, and she says she loved its weight and feel. For low tunings she uses a Custom Baritone Gibson Explorer in goldtop with a 28-inch scale neck, and another of her Explorers has a Firebird headstock, a black and red finish, gold hardware and 1970s humbuckers.

Epiphone has made several signature Explorers with her; the newest Lzzy Hale Explorer Custom, her seventh signature model according to Guitar World, has a Black Diamond Holographic finish first used on her Kramer Voyager, a mahogany body with 7-ply top binding, an ebony fretboard with pearloid block inlays and Epiphone ProBucker Ignite humbuckers. A 2019 version came in Alpine White with gold hardware and Alnico Classic Pro pickups.

Her amplifiers are mostly Marshall: she tours with two custom JCM800s, one white and one black, and her list has included a Marshall 1959RR Randy Rhoads head and EVH 5150 III amps. In an interview with guitarist Joe Hottinger the band's guitar sounds were described as a red 1971 Plexi blended with a Diezel VH4 or a 1987 Soldano 100-watt head.
