Epiphone added another Lzzy Hale signature on August 19, an Explorer Custom finished in what the company calls Black Diamond Holographic Sparkle. The Halestorm frontwoman has had a steady run of Epiphone models, several of which sold out, and she is now Gibson's first female brand ambassador.

Underneath the finish it's a fairly traditional Custom-spec Explorer: mahogany body and neck, a SlimTaper 60s C profile, an ebony fingerboard with block inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets. Electronics are a pair of ProBucker Ignite humbuckers wired to individual volume controls with a shared master tone. Hardware includes a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, and a Graph Tech nut, and a hardshell case is included.

Epiphone product manager Aljon Go framed it around Hale's stage presence, saying the guitar "looks unforgettable." It's on sale now through Epiphone dealers, the Gibson Garage stores in Nashville and London, and epiphone.com.

Why it matters

Hale's Epiphone models have a track record of selling through quickly, and a loud finish at the affordable end of the signature market tends to move — especially for players who want an Explorer that reads from the back of a room.
