About Molly Tuttle
Molly Tuttle is a bluegrass and country guitarist who switches between flatpicking and clawhammer with equal ease, according to Premier Guitar, and who won the International Bluegrass Music Association's guitar award. Her acoustic gear has centered on Huss & Dalton, with a custom TD-R dreadnought and an OM, one of which is in an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and was the guitar she played when she won the IBMA award.
She has signature models from two makers. The Preston Thompson Molly Tuttle Signature Model (DMT-SMA) is a dreadnought with an Adirondack spruce top and sinker mahogany back and sides, and Martin offers the D-18 Molly Tuttle, based on her beloved 1943 D-18, and the D-X2E Molly Tuttle. Both she and Billy Strings have been seen with the Fender Acoustasonic Stratocaster.
She uses D'Addario EXP17 coated phosphor bronze medium strings (.013 to .056), Dunlop JazzTone 208 picks and Shubb capos. Gear lists are from earlier in her career, so her setup may have changed. Guitar Radar follows her signature guitars and tour news.
