About Sass Jordan

Sass Jordan was a Canadian rock singer, based in Montreal, with a raspy blues-rock voice. Her debut album Tell Somebody in 1988 was followed by a Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1989, and before that she had sung backing vocals for The Box and written Michael Breen's hit Rain.

Her 1992 album Racine, recorded in Los Angeles, was her breakthrough and highest-selling release, with global sales estimated at about 450,000 copies and Canadian hits including Make You a Believer and I Want to Believe; Billboard named her Female Rock Artist of the Year, and she recorded Trust in Me with Joe Cocker for The Bodyguard soundtrack. Rats in 1994 produced her only US Hot 100 entry, Sun's Gonna Rise. She starred as Janis Joplin in the off-Broadway show Love, Janis in 2001 and from 2003 was a judge on Canadian Idol for its whole run.

Several outlets report that she died on October 2, 2026, according to a statement from her family; sources disagree on her birth year, 1960 or 1962. I found no information on her guitars.
