About Stanley Jordan
Stanley Jordan is an American jazz guitarist known for a two-handed tapping method in which notes are sounded by hammering fingers onto the fretboard, with volume controlled by the force of the impact. With no pick he can play several strings at once, and, classically trained as a pianist, he applied piano principles to voice chords, playing melody and chords at the same time with great independence. The technique generally works best on a guitar with low action and lighter strings.
Blue Note Records signed him as its first artist under Bruce Lundvall, and his album Magic Touch sat at number one on Billboard's jazz chart for 51 weeks, a record. His main guitar was built by Vigier in 1984, an Arpege model with a flat fingerboard made by Vigier, and he still calls it his number one electric.
More recently he has talked about a "tandem guitars" setup for a metal album with James Hetfield, using Hetfield's signature ESP Iron Cross single-cut and a PRS Santana for the other hand. I found no Fender signature model for him.
