Stanley Jordan has confirmed that he is working on a metal album, bringing his two-handed touch technique into a heavier setting. In a new Guitar World interview, he describes a tandem rig that lets him run different distortion and wah pedals for two guitars at the same time.

Jordan says his current pairing uses a PRS Santana for one hand and James Hetfield’s ESP Iron Cross for the other, while his Vigier remains his main instrument. He has not announced a title or release date, so the news is an early project confirmation rather than a finished-album launch.

Why it matters

Jordan applying his polyphonic touch technique to a purpose-built metal project is a rare cross-genre move, and the two-guitar signal-path detail makes it more than a vague album tease.
