About Troy Van Leeuwen

Troy Van Leeuwen is a guitarist and lap steel player with Queens of the Stone Age, and also plays with the project Gone Is Gone. His signature instrument is the Fender Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster, with an alder body, a maple neck based on a '65 Jazzmaster, 21 frets, a brass-saddle Mustang bridge and Pure Vintage '65 single-coil pickups, in finishes including oxblood, a colour he says looks black in some light and red in others. He has said the top pickup selector is the one he uses all the time.

Premier Guitar's rundown from the Like Clockwork tour lists an Echopark T-style guitar, his signature Jazzmaster with a Mastery bridge and a Burns 12-string, and EarthQuaker Devices reports a collection of custom Echopark and Fender Custom Shop Jazzmasters and Teles. His amps are two Vox AC30s, a combo and a head, driving Vox and Marshall cabinets.

His board includes two Rainbow Machines and a Tentacle analog octave, used to add upper harmonic pop to single coils, and he has mentioned the Fuzzrocious OC Demon. A Moog Lap Steel is listed for the Gone Is Gone side project.
