About Wolf Hoffmann

Wolf Hoffmann is the guitarist of the German metal band Accept, long associated with the Gibson Flying V. The white Vs became a trademark by accident: Hoffmann noticed that dark guitars did not show up on video recordings of the band's shows, so they were painted white. In the studio, though, he preferred Stratocasters, because the Vs lacked the bright attack he wanted and were hard to play seated, and he has said that everything on Restless and Wild and Balls to the Wall was recorded on a Strat.

He has also played a custom Jackson King V, and his own signature guitar is made by Framus, the Wolf Hoffmann Flying Fortress, which he has used since recording Rise of Chaos. The core amp has been a Marshall, including a 1980 50-watt Marshall Mk II he says he has used on just about every Accept album, and a 1987 50-watt Mk II made for him by Marshall's Dirk Baldringer.

A Dallas Rangemaster treble booster was used in the studio on all of Accept's albums in the 1980s and 1990s, from Breaker to Metal Heart. He has put gear from his albums and tours up for sale through Reverb. Fan forums disagree on some details of his guitars and pickups.
