About JHS Pedals
JHS Pedals is a Kansas City, Missouri effects maker run by Joshua Heath Scott. He began by repairing and modifying pedals, selling modified Boss units at a local shop, before designing his own; the founding year is given as 2007 by Wikipedia, with older mirrors giving 2001. Early original designs include the Morning Glory, an overdrive styled after the Marshall Bluesbreaker, and the Pulp 'N' Peel compressor.
The flagship is the Angry Charlie, a high-gain distortion often described as a pedal take on a modded Marshall JCM800, now in its third version with a three-band tone stack. In 2017 JHS and BOSS collaborated on the Angry Driver, combining the BD-2 Blues Driver with the Angry Charlie.
Scott and Nick Loux started the video series The JHS Show in 2018, in which they cover the history of pedals and the people who made them. The company has outgrown the boutique label and works with a team of employees in its own building. Guitar Radar follows new JHS pedals and collaborations.
