About Positive Grid
Positive Grid is a music-technology company that started on the software side. Sources give the start as 2011 with JamUp, an iOS guitar and bass effects app, though retailers often cite 2013; the company is described as being from Silicon Valley with a Taiwanese arm established around 2014.
Its BIAS software lets players design virtual tube amplifiers rather than choosing a fixed model, and shipped with 36 factory amps, with designs shared on the ToneCloud. BIAS began on iPad and arrived as a Mac and Windows plug-in in 2014.
The Spark practice amp, which combines BIAS modeling and effects with a companion smartphone app, launched in 2020 with 40 watts and two 4-inch speakers. Spark 2 followed in 2024. Guitar Radar follows Positive Grid's new Spark releases, BIAS software and hardware.
