About Reverend
Reverend Musical Instruments was founded in 1997 by Joe Naylor, a guitar and amplifier technician who studied industrial design at Western Michigan University and guitar making at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix. The company's own story says the first guitar was built in a garage behind a bicycle shop in East Detroit, and before Reverend Naylor had run amplifier and speaker businesses.
He received a US patent in 2000 for the construction of Reverend's semi-hollow guitar body. The company sold factory-direct from 2002, ended US production in 2006 in favor of an imported line, and in 2010 Ken Haas took over daily management, leaving Naylor with design and technical duties. It is now based in Toledo, Ohio.
Reverend's guitars are designed by Naylor and built in South Korea by Mirr Music. Notable lines include the Warhawk, with Korina body variants such as the DA, DAW and 390, and the Descent baritones. Guitar Radar follows Reverend's new models and artist signatures.
