About Squier

Squier is Fender's lower-priced guitar brand. The name goes back to V. C. Squier, a Michigan violin and string maker, whose company supplied strings to Fender instruments before Fender bought the Squier name in the 1960s. After Fender was bought back from CBS in the 1980s, Squier was relaunched in 1982 as an affordable line, first made in Japan and later moved to China and Indonesia.

The range includes the entry-level Bullet and Affinity series, the Classic Vibe series that recreates 1950s, 1960s and 1970s specifications. Squier also makes artist and limited editions that borrow Fender designs such as the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass.

For many players a Squier is a first guitar, but its best models are also used by gigging players and modders. Guitar Radar follows Squier's new series, collaborations and anniversary editions.
