About StewMac
StewMac, short for Stewart-MacDonald, is a luthier supply company in Athens, Ohio. An American Lutherie interview reprinted by the Guild of American Luthiers says it was founded in 1968 by C.E. "Kix" Stewart and Bill MacDonald, and began by selling banjo parts and being innovative; another database lists a different founder name, so the origin details are not fully agreed.
The company still sells banjo parts but now offers hundreds of tools, parts and materials for builders of all kinds of stringed instruments, for builders of guitars and other instruments.
Guitar Radar follows StewMac's new products, kits and tools.
