Behringer revives the treadle-controlled Mu-Tron flanger idea with the B-Flanger

The new B-Flanger pairs an all-analog BBD circuit with a full-size optical treadle, bringing a rare late-1970s modulation format back into production.

Behringer's B-Flanger surfaced on September 22 as an all-analog bucket-brigade flanger built around an integrated optical treadle. The layout deliberately revisits the Musitronics Mu-Tron Pedal Flanger concept, letting players move the flange sweep directly with a foot pedal instead of relying only on an LFO.

The pedal can run in oscillator-controlled or treadle-controlled modes and provides rate and feedback shaping alongside true-bypass switching. The unusual part is not simply another vintage-flanger circuit: it is the return of a large expression-pedal format that disappeared with the original Mu-Tron design decades ago.

Retail listings are already appearing, but this run did not find a directly fetchable dated Behringer announcement page. The dated Effects Database entry is therefore used as the verified source rather than inventing details beyond what could be checked.

Why it matters

Expression control is unusually central here: the B-Flanger restores a largely vanished hands-free modulation design rather than offering another compact clone of a familiar flanger box.
