About Behringer
Behringer is an audio brand founded on 25 January 1989 in Willich, Germany, by the Swiss-born engineer Uli Behringer. The company says he built a synthesizer, the UB-1, by the age of 16 and later studied piano and sound engineering in Düsseldorf. It is part of Music Tribe, formerly Music Group, a holding company chaired by Uli Behringer that also owns brands such as Midas, Klark Teknik and TC Electronic.
Production moved to China from around the late 1990s, and in 2018 Music Tribe opened its own factory complex, Music Tribe City, in Zhongshan, Guangdong. The brand has long been known for low-priced products that take inspiration from established designs, and since 2016 it has become a prolific maker of synthesizers and drum machines, including recreations of vintage hardware. Behringer has said such recreations are legal where patents have expired, though some original makers dislike them.
In guitar, Behringer sells budget pedals whose designs resemble BOSS models, as well as amps and interfaces. Guitar Radar follows its new pedals and gear.
