Cort's new CR300MT puts active EMGs in a stripped-back mahogany singlecut
A $900 set-neck single-cutaway with an EMG 81/60 pair, aimed at players who want a classic shape with a hotter, more modern voice.

Cort has added the CR300MT to its CR line of single-cutaway electrics. It keeps the familiar recipe of a solid mahogany body and set mahogany neck with a 24.75-inch scale, then leans modern with a pair of active EMG humbuckers, an 81 in the bridge and a 60 in the neck, wired to individual volume and tone controls and a three-way switch.
The rest of the build is straightforward working-guitar spec: a Micarta fingerboard with a 12-inch radius and 24 frets, a Graph Tech Tusq nut, Grover Rotomatics tuners and a Tune-o-matic bridge with a stop tailpiece. The finish is a single Black Satin, with white and black multi-ply binding around the body and headstock.
Cort describes it as answering a frequently requested combination of parts in a traditional design. Street price is $899.99.
Why it matters
The affordable end of the EMG-loaded singlecut market is crowded, and Cort has a long record of building the same guitars other brands sell for more, so a $900 set-neck option is worth players' attention.
