ENGL has introduced the Savage 30, a compact 30-watt version of its long-running Savage high-gain amp head, shown at Guitar Summit 2026. The German-built head runs on four 12AX7 preamp tubes and two EL34 power tubes, keeping the same aggressive, high-gain voicing the Savage line is known for in a smaller, more portable format.
The amp offers two channels — Clean and Lead — each with its own Gain control, plus shared Bass, Middle and Treble EQ. Gain Lo/Hi and Contour switches shape the response further, and the Lead channel gets its own adjustable noise gate to keep things tight at high gain. A built-in variable power soak lets players switch between Full, Mid and Low power modes, or go fully silent for recording.
Round the back, a tube-buffered series effects loop and flexible speaker outputs (one 8–16-ohm cab, or two 16-ohm cabs) round out a head built for players who want the Savage sound without hauling a full-size backline.
Why it matters
It brings ENGL's flagship high-gain tone into a lunchbox-style format that's actually practical for smaller stages and home use, without cutting the features that made the original Savage a metal-player staple.
