ENGL squeezes 200 watts of pedalboard power into the compact E805 Powercube

The Class-D power amp is built to turn any preamp, modeler or amp-in-a-box pedal into a stage-ready rig without adding rack space.

ENGL has introduced the E805 Powercube 200, a full-range power amp built to sit directly on a pedalboard rather than in a rack. The Class-D unit puts out up to 200 watts into a 4-ohm cabinet and runs on a wide-range 100–240V AC supply, so the same unit works internationally without a voltage switch.

The design is meant to be transparent: a switchable three-band EQ with an added presence control can be bypassed entirely so the amp just passes a preamp, modeler or amp-in-a-box pedal through cleanly. A balanced DI output covers direct recording and front-of-house feeds, and input/output LEDs warn before clipping sets in.

ENGL frames the Powercube 200 as a way to keep a favorite tone source but ditch a traditional amp head and cab for touring or smaller stages — a pedalboard-sized alternative to carrying a full backline.

Why it matters

It's a compact, transparent way to turn a pedalboard-based rig into a full-volume stage setup, aimed squarely at players who've moved to modelers or preamp pedals but still want real wattage on tap.
