Harley Benton has launched the SC-Special Hybrid, a single-cut electric guitar built around a genuinely unusual pickup pairing: an Isola CL-P90 in the neck and an Isola VT-500CR Alnico 5 humbucker in the bridge. A push/pull control on the volume pot splits the humbucker into single-coil mode, so the guitar can move between P90 bite and full humbucker output without swapping pickups.

The body is Okoume with a Canadian medium-roasted maple neck carved to a C profile, topped with a rosewood fingerboard on a 12-inch radius. Scale length runs 628mm, and the guitar carries a wraparound bridge with chrome hardware and a 3-ply pickguard.

It ships in four finishes Vintage White, Smoke Black, Sherwood Green and Maya Gold, all satin priced at 199 euros, continuing Harley Benton's pattern of putting boutique-adjacent pickup configurations on budget-tier instruments.

Why it matters

A P90/humbucker hybrid with a coil-split is a configuration usually reserved for boutique builds, not a 199-euro single-cut.
