JAM Pedals has released the Wahcko Mk.2, an update to a wah pedal that's been part of the Greek maker's line since 2008. The biggest change is under the hood: the original's red Fasel inductor is replaced with a custom JAM inductor built to the spirit of the inductors found in classic 1960s Cry Baby and Vox wah circuits.

The familiar six-position Sweep control carries over from the original Wahcko, letting players tailor the pedal's frequency range to their instrument and rig, and a new internal Q trimmer adds finer control over how sharp or broad the wah's character sounds. Internal DIP switches now let players configure the pedal specifically for guitar or bass, extending its sweep into a genuinely usable range for bass players rather than just guitarists. The footplate itself has also changed, swapping the original's plexiglass surface for a non-slip rubber top, and battery operation makes a return alongside the standard power jack.

JAM's demo highlights the same expressive, player-reactive sweep the Wahcko built its reputation on, now built around hardware the company designed itself rather than an off-the-shelf inductor.

Why it matters

It's a genuine circuit-level update to a pedal players already rated highly, not just a cosmetic refresh — and the added bass mode widens who it's actually useful for.
