Universal Audio introduced six new Volt Gen 2 and Volt Max USB audio interfaces on October 1. The range moves to 32-bit/192 kHz conversion and introduces Tone Shaping Preamps with Warmth, Focus and Shine modes. Most models add a full-color Smart Display plus Auto-Gain and Clip Protection.

Volt Max models add real-time Max Processing with six compression presets derived from UA's 1176, LA-2A and VCA compressor styles. Selected models also provide ADAT expansion, MIDI, talkback and speaker switching. UA says the interfaces are available worldwide from October 1, with the range starting at $149 MAP. The instrument inputs and included guitar-amp plug-ins make the update directly relevant to guitarists building compact recording rigs.
