The Brussels International Guitar Festival and Competitions is accepting entries for its 2026 composition competition, with the first deadline arriving at midnight Belgian time on November 4. Composers must request the full rules and application form by that point, then submit the completed entry, anonymous score, audio realization and €75 fee by midnight on November 6. The call is open to composers of any age and nationality.

Entries must be previously unpublished, unperformed and unpromoted works for classical guitar with six or more strings, lasting seven to eight minutes. The anonymous score is accompanied by an MP3 or MIDI realization so the jury can assess the piece without a public performance history. Only one winner will be selected.

The prize combines €1,500 and a diploma with practical exposure: the winning work is scheduled for performance at the 2027 festival, with a recording used for promotion and possible publication also on the table. The 2026 award announcement is set for November 29. The festival’s own competition page provides the rules and contact path, while its press page and Visit Brussels listing verify the current edition and festival context.

Why it matters

It is a genuinely international, time-sensitive opportunity for classical-guitar composers, with both cash and a concrete performance pathway attached.
