Antequera’s Peña Flamenca Luis Perdiguero will stage the second Otoño Flamenco on October 17, pairing singer María Jesús Bernal with guitarist Manuel Jero. The recital begins at 19:00 at the Puerta del Sol entrance to the city’s bullring, and admission is free until the venue reaches capacity.
Bernal comes from La Puebla de Cazalla and cites the Utrera and Jerez singing traditions among her reference points. Jero, from Jerez de la Frontera, began playing at 12 and has accompanied artists including Aurora Vargas, Pansequito, Niña Pastori and Antonio Reyes.
The town council and the Peña Luis Perdiguero revived the event after last year’s first edition drew a strong response. Organizers frame the recital as both a gathering for established flamenco listeners and an accessible entry point for new local audiences.
Why it matters
A locally rooted, free-admission flamenco event gives Guitar Radar useful coverage beyond the English-language gear cycle and puts a veteran accompanist’s craft at the center of a current program.
