Cristina Galietto won first prize at the 58th Michele Pittaluga International Guitar Competition, which concluded in Alessandria on September 26. She performed Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with I Musici di Parma under Giampaolo Bandini; Sergei Perelekov and Choi Kiwon shared second prize.
Galietto’s award includes €12,000, a recording opportunity in Seville and an international concert tour. The result adds another major competition title to a career that already includes the 2021 EuroStrings Guitar Competition and performances across Europe and the United States.
Why it matters
The Pittaluga result identifies a rising classical guitarist at an important international competition and carries concrete next steps: a professional recording and tour, not just a trophy.
