Filip Mišković wins the 2026 Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition

Filip Mišković has won the 59th Francisco Tárrega International Classical Guitar Competition in Benicàssim, Spain. The final took place on September 4, with the result reported on September 5: Mišković received first prize and Luka Lovreković second, ahead of finalists Sohta Nakabayashi of Japan and Francisco Luís of Portugal.
The Tárrega competition is one of the long-running international fixtures of the classical-guitar world, created in 1967 in honor of Francisco Tárrega. This year's field brought together young players from multiple countries, making Mišković's win a useful marker for a guitarist whose international profile is still rising.
Why it matters
Major competitions are one of the clearest ways emerging classical guitarists break into the international circuit. Mišković's win puts a young Croatian player at the top of one of the instrument's best-known competitive stages.
