The 22nd Tampere Guitar Festival opens September 16 and runs through September 19 in Tampere and Pirkkala, Finland. This year's programme spans classical and flamenco guitar, concerts, club performances and courses, and forms part of the wider Tango–Guitar–Flamenco Week.

Among the central concerts, Aniello Desiderio and Zoran Dukić perform together in Finland for the first time. Francisco Bernier marks the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla's birth, while Patrik Kleemola approaches Spanish guitar repertoire on period instruments. The festival also moves into late-night flamenco programming with guitarist Joonas Widenius, singer Anna Murtola and dancer Ingrid Mugu.

The educational side is unusually accessible: visiting artists also give free classical-guitar masterclasses. With the festival beginning today, the event itself is the freshness trigger rather than the date of its original announcement.

Why it matters

Tampere combines high-level classical programming, flamenco and free learning opportunities rather than functioning only as a recital series. The Desiderio–Dukić Finnish debut gives this edition a specific international draw.
