About Adrian Belew
Adrian Belew is an American guitarist and singer who built his reputation as a sound-sculpting player in King Crimson and alongside Frank Zappa, David Bowie and Talking Heads. His signature instrument is the Parker Fly, made with Ken Parker, with a custom vibrato, a Sustainiac pickup and a MIDI-capable piezo; Premier Guitar's 2024 rig rundown shows him on two signature Parker Flys.
He has long used guitar synthesis for texture rather than as a replacement for playing: he acquired a Roland GR-300 in 1981 and used it on King Crimson albums. A Fender Mustang known as the "Twang Bar King" is another favorite. His present rig leans on Fractal Axe-Fx modeling, with a DigiTech Harmony Man, fuzz and other pedals.
